Ha ha nice one flopp's

But i think it should be Nonse (why i hear you utter) because on a freezing cold frosty morning when you need the bl**dy car to start and it won't, that word almost certainly will be one of the words coming out of your mouth Chris.:D

Funny you should say that, Crazy, this car will start in -10 or even if its left a week sat on the drive. Its got ECU controlled fuel injector things... so it will start without fail, unless something major is wrong (touch wood!)

LOL flops! i didn't get it... Thats a good one...

I may actually stick with Nala, i like it. Thanks Bex!

Noofter. Hmm. Rhymes with, er, let's not go there, it's 2005 and we are so politically correct ;)

Ah right, Im a tad slow ;)

Nalas cool, because i don't know anyone called Nala, and its a nice name, its got a nice sound to it. I may ofically name my car Nala :)

Looks like a stereo is out the window for this months pay *Unless* the 5cm crack in the bottom of the windscreen wont fail its MOT.

I have no Windscreen cover as my insurance policy is TPFT. Damn it. thats £130 down the drain...

Hate to upset you, but mine failed on pre-MOT check for a crack about 7cm long on lower windscreen. Direct result of my July prang :( Cost me £190.00 for a new windscreen, and I phoned around to get the best price as well.

I couldn't claim on the insurance either at the time as my vehicle was in the middle of an insurance battle over my accident (somebody pulled out in front of me in the rain).

The guy made a good job of it though and the screen did have have one of those annoying little craters right in the middle where a pebble was thrown up from a lorry's wheel once. So I lost that.

Funnily enough, it didn't fail on that little crater/star, just the crack.

Welcome to car ownership :D

I think my parents were quoted about £130 from somewhere... Thats still a big dent in the bank account!

What car was this on Flops - the £190 one

http://www.nationwideautoglazing.com/repairs.shtml

You can find the requirements there.
A 21 year old Mercedes Benz 280SE, South African import (right hand drive) long wheel base.

I do like old cars, and I've always wanted a Merc, not one dent on this thing, I love it :)

Not the most economical car in the world though.

I've posted these pix before, but couldn't find the thread to provide a link, so here they are again. Taken in Brighton, October last year:

Purchased in October, 2003. Mate of mine owned it for six years previous, so I knew it's history.

He bought another Merc for £11K, I don't know what it is or how old it is, but it's silver and is an Estate. A very nice motor. Funny thing is, he says he misses his old car, said it had more character :)

I have owned a few quirky cars in my time, they're impractical, but fun. Complete strangers come up to you and talk about your car :D

My daughter will be 18 on St. Valentine's Day. The more I look at Chris's 306, the more I think that might be a good buy for her. And some driving lesons, I suppose. Thinking.

German motors never fail to please!
Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, VW Just A couple

But I must admit I do have a love for the RS Cosworth, but I reckon the VW Golf has always been a great car! I used to have a Golf, one of the best cars in terms of performance and value I have driven! Definetly would reccomend a Golf to everyone very impressed by it!

A RS cosworth is WELL out of my price range, but I am currenly looking for a 10-15 year old Escort, that is in good nick, I would like to add little bits here and there nothing major though! Just a part of my extensive projects!

I used to play Lotus on the Amiga 500, and I fell in love with one of their Lotuses, its the same shape as an Escort im looking for all boxed up!
by the time I have finsihed with mine when i get it, it will look very new!:)

O well Big up to VW's GOLF long may you live!!!:)

The 306 is a superb car to drive, its actually a very big car, yet it remains the best handling hatchback on the road...!

My mate who has a 106 just couldn't get enough of it - Him, his GF (one of my good mates also) and I sat in my car for a good hour and a half, he loved everything about it. He says it's much better than his! Don't get Tesco insurance either - he's paying £1700 on his 1992 1.1 106 and im paying £1476 on my 1995 1.6i 306... he got ripped off!

If your getting a peugeot, get a 306. Talking to my uncle who has a 106 he says basically its a heap of crap compared to the 2 306's he had... he said the 306 is generally better built and nice ride quality.

Thats a nice motor you have there flops, old quality cars are always nice, i drove a 1979 Lincoln Continental and a 1966 Cadilac Coupe Deville out in the states the year before last. Brilliant. Both had big block V8's :D :D

I guess the windscreen on a big merc would be more expensive than a 306 though...
