Here we go again

Pointing out a mistake in someone's post for the benefit
of the newsgroup readers is one thing. But to capitalize
on someone's poor choice of words (a.k.a. "network
aware"), just to give yourself an excuse to sling
childish insults and personal attacks is quite another
thing.

HmmmmGlendale is VEY CLOSE to Microsoft HQ, I wonder if...............

Not that close. I believe, by that latitude and longitude, you are looking
at Glendale California, not exactly near Microsoft HQ in Redmond Washington.

Just to be precise, anyways.

WOW! A dynamic IP address assigned by an ISP's DHCP
server to one of its dialup clients. Amazing detective
work. Are you going to tell us how you did it? Or will
we have to wait to read your next book?

There was no poor choice of words....he even mentioned it in the
messaged header.......it was quite deliberate....and incompetent...He then
went on to say that his CPU activity went down from 100% even though he had
given it more work to do....is that another poor choice of words...

Thanks for giving me another chance to point out how wrong papajohn is
YET AGAIN...I wonder if he will publish it in this book he claims to be
writing....yes that's right, claims to be writing....but from a previous
post is actually adding a few things to a book being written by someone
else.......

Lets remember...he claims higher qualifications in Database
management....that means you need to know a lot about networks...so in what
way is it a poor choice of words from someone who claims to be highly
qualified.

Do I need to remind you what he said about a tracert....he had clearly
never heard of them before yet he started passing remarks that were
obviously wrong and all the more stupid because of the qualifications he
says he has....should I return to the 52 newsgroups that he claimed he
posted too....WRONG WRONG WRONG was that a poor choice of words?

You make me laugh....

I was just looking at the map thrown up in the search,

As you are here, what are your views on an MVP claiming that Movie Maker, a
well known desktop application, is network aware when it clearly is not.
Remembering that these claims which were assisted by a second MVP were made
by an MVP who in his CV claims to have worked or studied at two universities
and is an expert in database management!!!

Further, what will Microsoft's position be, if that information is
published by a Microsoft MVP? using that MVP status in an attempt to enforce
the accuracy of the statement ?

Will Microsoft place a statement in this newsgroup to clarify the situation,
or will they allow this incorrect information to be publishes a second time.

Will the MVP concerned now retract his poorly chosen words and confirm his
belief (if any one has yet told him) that Movie Maker one ot two are NOT
network aware in any shape manner or form?

Apart from the financial reward that MVP is likely to make from these kind
of statements in the book he says he is writing, will this book be part of
the Microsoft Official Publications? and whether it is or not, will
Microsoft make any financial gain from the books publication?

Hello Again,

Here is the mvp papajohn's opening remark....its a corker!!!

I did an overnight test of Movie Maker's 'network awareness' and it worked
great.
For anyone who does not know...it takes a few seconds to check a network
connection....it does NOT take all night...
The subject of the message is MM2 and Networks and was posted on the 12th
of this month. I doubt anyone could by any stretch of the imagination call
this message a poor choice of words...Its a deliberate precise statement
issued by an MVP in a public forum so as to convince users who do not know
better that Movie Maker is Net Aware.
When will the statement be retracted???? or are you going to delete it and
pretend it never happened???
It would be interesting to see what will happen if I can find a computer
mag that does not owe any allegiance to Microsoft and see what they make of
it.

Not sure where you searched, so I'll recommend for converting Lat/Long
numbers to a map that you use a site such as
http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/geographic.aspx which enables you to
search by latitude and longitude. Note that W longitudes and S latitudes
need to be entered as negative numbers on that site.

As for the rest of your questions, I am not in any position to answer any
of them. I was merely correcting the information regarding the relative
distance between Glendale (34.206N, 118.306W) and Redmond (47.6742N,

Hello Mr. Eddy,

As for the rest of your questions, I am not in any position to answer any

of them. I was merely correcting the information regarding the relative
distance between Glendale (34.206N, 118.306W) and Redmond (47.6742N,
122.1203W.)

Why does this NOT surprise me....OK, who IS in a position to answer these
questions Mr. Eddy. That is a direct question to which I would like an
answer. Please don't say abuse. The person papajohn who I understand is
under your control (or is it Mr. Brown's) has made a statement that is
still misleading everyone who reads it. Why are you not in a position to
deal with this, you are the newsgroup administrator after all.

Even though we have had a few idiots that have turned a genuine set of
remarks into another well orchestrated flame war, Papajohns remarks were
not a poor choice of words as one "TROLL" or as they are rapidly become
known "Papajohns Bully Boys". He announced the title of the thread he
started, He then described how well Movie Maker was at being "NETWORK
AWARE"...you have to remember as well that in previous messages he has
demonstrated a total lack of knowledge on the subject of a very basic
network tool "TRACERT" His CV implies that he knows rather a lot about
Databases (That insists on a knowledge of Networks by the way) He claims to
post messages in 52 newsgroups (No he does not) He likes network issues
that "REPAIR THEMESELVES"

Is there a trend here????? I rather think so.

I have seen other MVP's make mistakes and as soon as they realise they put
it right....WHEN WILL PAPAJOHN DO THIS????

So, I look forward to the information regarding who is in a position to
answer the previous questions which you are, even as the newsgroup
Administrator, not able to answer.

I would not say 'abuse.' I suggested you contacted the (e-mail address removed)
alias when you felt that someone was attempting to hack your web server via
a Microsoft owned IP address. I will pass along your questions to people
within the MVP program for an answer. Is it ok if I pass along your contact
information as pulled from a Whois query against your domain?
The person papajohn who I understand is
under your control (or is it Mr. Brown's)

I am no longer an MVP Lead and, as such, am no longer involved directly with
MVPs. Even when I was, no MVP was 'under my control.' MVP Leads do not
'control' MVPs. They (MVPs) are not Microsoft Employees. MVPs are free to
do and say whatever they wish, just as you are. The only time I'll step in
is when something comes up regarding the Rules of Conduct and Terms of
Service (and someone points it out to me.)

The reason I got involved in this thread is that there was concern that the
initial post, that you were replying to, was removed from our servers. As
near as I can tell, the initial post that you were replying to was never
made to our servers.

Yes, I am the Newsgroup Administrator, after all. I am responsible for the
microsoft.public hierarchy, creation of new newsgroups, removal of spam and
other posts that violate our Rules of Conduct and Terms of Services, amongst
other internal policies and projects surrounding the news servers. My job
does not include making sure everyone gets a correct answer, nor does it
involve what the MVPs say.

Jack

Hello there,

To the nice person called Jack...I am told you are posting, by
one of my cousins...Joseph Kelly, but as you do not appear in my
news reader I guess you must be on my kill file.Consequently you
must be some kind of a special person to use a fake name but
leave your email or posting location in the message...LOL

Yes, I have written several books. If you have access to the UK
Home Office website you will find that I am published there. You
should find references to Crime Pattern Analysis, Geo-Demographic
Analysis, Tachograph Analysis And Advanced Accident
Investigation.. You should also find mention of me in some
mathematical publications in the USA and in the Government files
in New South Wales where I have also been published. I hope that
satisfies your curiosity...exactly what it has to do with my
original message is something of a puzzle, perhaps you could
enlighten the rest of us on exactly what thought process caused
you to ask the question....I am sure we are all waiting with
baited breath...

The fact remains that we have a Microsoft acknowledged
professional who is probably going to earn money by publishing
the statement" Movie Maker is network aware" when it is nothing
of the sort. It is simply using a drive that's a bit further away
than usual. That process has nothing at all to do with being
Network Aware. However this man in his CV claims to be something
of an expert with regard to databases. If you knew anything about
databases (Yes one of my books still in use to day is about
networked databases) you would know that he is talking total
rubbish.

As Microsoft seem to take every thing on face value and give
people who use expressions (So many it is now becoming tedious
re-typing them) the way this man does, its time some one started
to rattle some ones cage at Microsoft. If this is an example of a
"vetted" person it puts every MVP at the bottom of the knowledge
pool, and I know many of them are not.

It is also VERY important that the people who might have
considered purchasing this book he is contributing too are made
aware of what value for money they are buying into.

Rubbish Johnny, you are just full of it.

I have no interest in your website.

Besides you said it yourself "Because there is nothing"

You really think your figures mean anything to anybody except Johnny?

To the nice person who calls himself JAKE....Thank you for your
interest in my website....its clear you did not find anything to help
support your lost cause...why??? Because there is nothing...but thanks
for pushing up my figures ...

To the nice person JAKE. I should have added, you DO realise that
Microsoft know who you are don't you....you know....that little .NET
passport Keep up the great work....

I do not care if Microsoft knows who I am. What are they going to do about
it? I haven't done anything illegal. We don't follow Johhny laws here in
the US. And we don't make Johnny threats here either.

To the nice person JAKE,

Oh you are so hurtful, what will your masters say?

I did reply and gave you some pointers about where to find MY
publications...had any luck?

P.S. Even in this thread, Microsoft can see by the date and time
stamps that the flaming occurred AFTER my first post...they will also
be able to see that you in GLENDALE using an EARTHLINK connection were
responsible

Glendale? Glendale California? Sorry Johnny, I will give you a clue, try
the US state of Ohio

It really bothers you about "52 newsgroups". You a little jealous?

Jake

There was no poor choice of words....he even mentioned it in the
messaged header.......it was quite deliberate....and incompetent...He
then went on to say that his CPU activity went down from 100% even
though he had given it more work to do....is that another poor choice
of words...

Thanks for giving me another chance to point out how wrong
papajohn is
YET AGAIN...I wonder if he will publish it in this book he claims to
be writing....yes that's right, claims to be writing....but from a
previous post is actually adding a few things to a book being written
by someone else.......

Lets remember...he claims higher qualifications in Database
management....that means you need to know a lot about networks...so in
what way is it a poor choice of words from someone who claims to be
highly qualified.

Do I need to remind you what he said about a tracert....he had
clearly
never heard of them before yet he started passing remarks that were
obviously wrong and all the more stupid because of the qualifications
he says he has....should I return to the 52 newsgroups that he claimed
he posted too....WRONG WRONG WRONG was that a poor choice of words?

You make me laugh....

Here we go again said:
Pointing out a mistake in someone's post for the benefit
of the newsgroup readers is one thing. But to capitalize
on someone's poor choice of words (a.k.a. "network
aware"), just to give yourself an excuse to sling
childish insults and personal attacks is quite another
thing.

Oh no Johnny, you aren't going to complain to Microsoft again like you
did the last time are you?

Jake

Now Johnny, it's not nice to call people names. That's what got you in
trouble last time. Don't your remember?

Jake

WOW....ANOTHER POOR PATHETIC WIMP WITH NO BOTTLE....DID IT TAKE YOU
LONG TO BUILD UP THE COURAGE TO POST YOUR MESSAGE, OR ARE YOU THE SORT
THAT GETS SOME ONE ELSE TO DO YOUR DIRTY WORK FOR YOU...De. Wimp !!

WOW! A dynamic IP address assigned by an ISP's DHCP
server to one of its dialup clients. Amazing detective
work. Are you going to tell us how you did it? Or will
we have to wait to read your next book?

Hello Again,

Here is the mvp papajohn's opening remark....its a corker!!!

I did an overnight test of Movie Maker's 'network awareness' and
it worked great.
For anyone who does not know...it takes a few seconds to check a
network connection....it does NOT take all night...
The subject of the message is MM2 and Networks and was posted on
the 12th of this month. I doubt anyone could by any stretch of
the imagination call this message a poor choice of words...Its a
deliberate precise statement issued by an MVP in a public forum
so as to convince users who do not know better that Movie Maker
is Net Aware. When will the statement be retracted???? or are you
going to delete it and pretend it never happened???
It would be interesting to see what will happen if I can find a
computer mag that does not owe any allegiance to Microsoft and
see what they make of it.

Johnny! Are you jealous?

Hello Mr. Eddy,

Why does this NOT surprise me....OK, who IS in a position to
answer these questions Mr. Eddy. That is a direct question to
which I would like an answer. Please don't say abuse. The person
papajohn who I understand is under your control (or is it Mr.
Brown's) has made a statement that is still misleading everyone
who reads it. Why are you not in a position to deal with this,
you are the newsgroup administrator after all.

Even though we have had a few idiots that have turned a genuine
set of remarks into another well orchestrated flame war,
Papajohns remarks were not a poor choice of words as one "TROLL"
or as they are rapidly become known "Papajohns Bully Boys". He
announced the title of the thread he started, He then described
how well Movie Maker was at being "NETWORK AWARE"...you have to
remember as well that in previous messages he has demonstrated a
total lack of knowledge on the subject of a very basic network
tool "TRACERT" His CV implies that he knows rather a lot about
Databases (That insists on a knowledge of Networks by the way) He
claims to post messages in 52 newsgroups (No he does not) He
likes network issues that "REPAIR THEMESELVES"

Is there a trend here????? I rather think so.

I have seen other MVP's make mistakes and as soon as they realise
they put it right....WHEN WILL PAPAJOHN DO THIS????

So, I look forward to the information regarding who is in a
position to answer the previous questions which you are, even as
the newsgroup Administrator, not able to answer.

Johnny! You are a nimrod!

Jack
