Networks and MM2

J

John Kelly

Hi there,
he right? Is MM networkable?

No of course he is not right. I can't believe a guy who *claims* to have
database qualifications (presumably something other than desktop databases)
could ever claim that MM was networkable. He wants people to believe that
just because MM can use a drive that is networked that it therefore means
that MM is Network aware!!!
I know record locking is not involved but what
about file locking? Surely this will cause quite a

Joe, the guy is off his rocker believe me. MM knows nothing about networks,
all that it knows is that there is a "mapped" drive available, which to MM
will simply appear as a drive, the program knows about the same amount on
networks as my dog does and at a guess my dog knows more about this than he
does. To MM the drive it is accessing is just a drive...no more than that,
it knows nothing about optimistic or pessimistic locking of files or
records. It does not share a common pool of data and using the normal
domestic connections to another computer it cannot even be accessed across
the network if it is located in its default location, it can only be run
locally.
problem? He also says its for a book he is writing
LOL !!!

I notice as well that once again these announcements
are only ever responded to by his mate Bob, its exactly
as you said.

Well yes, he claims to be contributing to a book some one else is
writing...if they publish the fact that MM is network aware he is going to
get blasted from the sky. Its a laugh a minute...truly a laugh a minute.

its been noted before that "Bob" and he make these little conversations.
Its now obvious what that game is about. I look forward to seeing this
book, its going to be interesting. I have been having a quiet time since
these fools were put in the kill file. Its quite obvious that the people
employed to watch over these people have little knowledge in this area, or
they prefer to not rock the boat....whatever it is they are allowing things
to slip. The wheel will eventually come off, but I expect that the only
thing to happen will be that they get moved on.

Thanks for brining me up to speed, I needed a good laugh!!!

Hello there,

Thank you for your kind remarks, Thats my boy....nice to see you are still

I never click on links, especially from the like of you.....you are

And how many books have you written? Can you even read for comprehension?
Have you considered putting yourself in your kill file? Or do you like
seeing your name in print. Is that what your book will be about? How about
"My Ranting and Ravings" by John Kelly.

John Kelly

Hello there,

To the nice person called Jack...I am told you are posting, by one of my
cousins...Joseph Kelly, but as you do not appear in my news reader I guess
you must be on my kill file.Consequently you must be some kind of a special
person to use a fake name but leave your email or posting location in the
message...LOL

Yes, I have written several books. If you have access to the UK Home Office
website you will find that I am published there. You should find references
to Crime Pattern Analysis, Geo-Demographic Analysis, Tachograph Analysis
And Advanced Accident Investigation.. You should also find mention of me in
some mathematical publications in the USA and in the Government files in
New South Wales where I have also been published. I hope that satisfies
your curiosity...exactly what it has to do with my original message is
something of a puzzle, perhaps you could enlighten the rest of us on
exactly what thought process caused you to ask the question....I am sure we
are all waiting with baited breath...

The fact remains that we have a Microsoft acknowledged professional who is
probably going to earn money by publishing the statement" Movie Maker is
network aware" when it is nothing of the sort. It is simply using a drive
that's a bit further away than usual. That process has nothing at all to do
with being Network Aware. However this man in his CV claims to be something
of an expert with regard to databases. If you knew anything about databases
(Yes one of my books still in use to day is about networked databases) you
would know that he is talking total rubbish.

As Microsoft seem to take every thing on face value and give people who use
expressions (So many it is now becoming tedious re-typing them) the way
this man does, its time some one started to rattle some ones cage at
Microsoft. If this is an example of a "vetted" person it puts every MVP at
the bottom of the knowledge pool, and I know many of them are not.

It is also VERY important that the people who might have considered
purchasing this book he is contributing too are made aware of what value
for money they are buying into.

Here we go again

Oh my my, another childish flame war started by, and
perpetuated by the ultimate know-it-all himself, John
Kelly. What a surprise....

I thought you said you were going to put me in "YOUR" killfile...hurry up
will you

AND, as long as PAPAJOHN tries to convince everyone that he knows what he is
talking about when he demonstratably does not, I WILL continue to POINT IT
OUT so that all users of this newsgroup are made aware of what his knowledge
level actually is.

On second thought, don't put me in your kill file, please do keep posting
stupid remarks, maybe Microsoft will eventually deal with you as well...but
in the meantime, each time you or any one else wants to defend remarks like
those made by papajohn, I will take that opportunity to reply to the stupid
remarks and again emphasis what it is all actually about.

So RANT AWAY please do

To the nice person who calls himself JAKE....Thank you for your interest in
my website....its clear you did not find anything to help support your lost
cause...why??? Because there is nothing...but thanks for pushing up my
figures ...

To the nice person JAKE,
And how many books have you written? Can you even read for comprehension?
Have you considered putting yourself in your kill file? Or do you like
seeing your name in print. Is that what your book will be about? How about
"My Ranting and Ravings" by John Kelly.

Oh you are so hurtful, what will your masters say?

I did reply and gave you some pointers about where to find MY
publications...had any luck?

P.S. Even in this thread, Microsoft can see by the date and time stamps that
the flaming occurred AFTER my first post...they will also be able to see
that you in GLENDALE using an EARTHLINK connection were responsible
