mm2 AGAIN!

I have been anxiously following the posts about mm2 not installing and I have gone to papajohn's website (thank you!).

Here is my question...
I have been unsuccessful in getting mm2 to show up. Strangely, when I click on the properties of the moviemaker icon, it tells me that I have version 2.something, and that the internal name is movie maker 2. Is it possible that I had movie maker 2 all along, but that it's not calling itself that? The menu bar name hasn't changed from movie maker.

Is there some other distinguishing way to tell the difference between mm and mm2?

When I was at microsoft's web page about this installation issue, it showed a picture of the MM window, which looked nothing like the windows I'm used to seeing for MM. Could those of you who have had one and successfully upgraded to the other let us know how else we'll know (besides the title bar)

Movie Maker versions 1 and 2 look pretty much the same to a casual look.

MM1 has in the Collections tree at the left - only the folder named My
Collections

MM2 has, in addition to Collections, folders of Video Effects and Video
Transitions

Another difference..... one of the pull down menu main choices is 'Tools' (7
main choices). MM1 has 6 main choices, and it doesn't have 'Tools'.

Based upon this e- mail it appears that I have MM2. On the left side, I have under collections Video Effects, Transactions and Collections. My version # is 2.03312

Are my correct

If this is 2, How do I save the video clips to an AVI file, instead of MMV file
