cannot delete or move message from outbox

ROBERT figured this out!!! The only way it really worked was to rename the
folder to WindowsMail. NOTE: you will lose all of your messages and your
settings. If you want to keep them, back them up!! I did not lose my address
book. Remember to use quotation marks in the CMD prompt. Mine looked like
this: esentutl/p"c:\Users\MY
NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsMail\windowsmail.msmessagestore"

I had them same problem, go to the deleted items, then go to upper bar click
Edit, then select delete ( do not select and highlight all messages) from
delete folder and click to empty folder, you have to do this over and over
and over it will delete one message at a time. technolgy is it great!

I just spent $59 with microsoft to fix this problem. You have to create a
backup file on your desktop. then copy all your messages and contacts to this
file. Then delete windows mail. Then it can be restored and and works fine.
It took about 30 minutes to walk thru everything and if I had thought about
it I would have written it all down.

I am having the same problem. However I can not change the name of Windows
Mail to WindowsMail for some reason even in admin mode I do not have
permision. Please advise how I set older so that I have permission to rename.

Thanks
Gordon

Well, whether it's backward or forward, I'm not going to mess with a bandaid
fix of this problem. Microsoft made its name by making things as simple as
possible so normal users don't have to mess with back office stuff. I'm sure
they have a fix in the works. If not, I'm sure there is other mail handling
software

Posted solutions do not correct my problem. I can not s
-- end any messages and there is one message in my outbox that will not delete

I had the same problem but contacted Microsoft Support who sent me a fix
which worked without any problem. As I understand it is a temporary fix until
a permanent one is issued in the next Service Pack.

I have the same problem as everyone else. Did MSN say when the next service
pack is coming out? I may just live with the problem until then.

What was the name/number of the fix?

That sounds interesting. Can you share Microsoft's fix with us?
I have a sneaking suspicion they 'borrowed' Steve's WMUtil tool.

Apparently you have to beg Microsoft for the secret hotfix.

I believe there is a point behind hotfixes being available on demand
as opposed to being "scattergum" distributed. I understand that they haven't
yet been thoroughly tested and M$ don't want to roll out something that may
still have errors and thus cause chaos for millions of users who received
them too early and, probably more to the point, overwhelm their support
infrastructure. It strikes me as a reasonable compromise.

I see the hot fix approach as a form of user or beta testing.

I may well be way off on this but heh! What's new?

Correct. They have to get approval from the testing department before they
can roll it out. This is separate from the tester who is part of the team.
