i cannot open the msmessagestore. it says i must choose a program to open

It is opened by Windows Mail.
Why do you want to open it outside of Windows Mail?

I dont understand any of that. I have deleted all files in the outbox, but
the next part is not clear at all. How do you repair the database and what is
the cmd prompt. Why cant you make it easy to understand for us non-computer
buffs.

You are responding to a very old message and not telling us exactly what
your problem is.

I did that and works perfect!

Tank you.

Then you will have to delete the database files in the message store
directory. Delete the windowsmail.msmessagestore file completely and then
you will start fresh. The messages will still be in the subdirectories.
See how that does.

Go to the outbox directory in Windows Explorer. The location will be:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\Outbox

and with WinMail closed delete all the files.

Then try repairing the database.

Run the cmd prompt as Admin and copy and then in there

esentutl /p "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
Mail\windowsmail.msmessagestore"

Fill in the %USERPROFILE% to match your profile (e.g. c:\users\nrc)

Then reopen WinMail and see if that fixes it.

When I go to the Local Folder withthe WinMial closed, the out going message
is not in the folder. It still showes up in the folder in WinMail and is
blocking all out going mail.

This is blocking all messages, both new and reply messages and is therefore
urgent that I fix this. the error message is " an unknown error has

Use this (clear outbox option)

Follow the instructions carefully.
(not that it's dangerous but if you don't
the option you need won't be made available)

For quite a while now, MS has said nothing about Windows Mail,
either GeekSpeak or anything else.

I went to the site and downloaded the package but when I try to open it - it
goes to adobe reader. It apparently doesn't open a zip file and I only seem
to get one item downloaded. I think this stinks that microsoft can't/won't
fix the problem. I hae a ghost email in my inbox that I can't clear out and
gave up. I am ready to ditch microsoft for something that works.
