I have the same problem as everyone else and I have tried all your
suggestions including running WMUtil.exe (which the buttons don't become
active) and I'm getting really frustrated. Anymore suggestions?
Ana Paula said:Hi everybody. I just bought my laptop with Vista. And I have already a
problem: I can not delete messagens from OUTBOX and I can not SEND
messages.
This is really annoying and looks like it is a problem which came with
Vista.
What can I do?
Sorry, that should be with Windows Mail not running.Download and install this fix, without Windows Mail not running:

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works
in other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version
or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. If you have certain
common antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or
McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, remember where to find the
fix as you are likely to need it again, although not immediately.

urgent that I fix this. the error message is " an unknown error has
occurred".

This is a peer-to-peer help group. No Microsoft employees here.
As I said earlier, the interim resolution is to use a different email program.
