sorry but I am a 101 user.... how do I get to my out box directoy?

Why do you want the Outbox directory? That's just likely to get you in
trouble.

When you open Windows Mail do you not see a list of folders on the left?
Click Outbox in that list.

Try describing your problem.

You might try a more recent fix that does not require renaming the
directory. Download and install it with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first, and if it refuses to
install, then the 64-bit version. Certain common antivirus programs,
such as most of those from Norton or McAfee, or a recent one
from Trend, tend to cause such problems, although seldom
immediately, so if you have such a program, remember where to
find the fix - you are likely to need it again.

I have been trying to DELETE the unsent message from outbox since last week
and no progress so far. There must be someone good enough to do this, of
course this is BIll GATES's problem. There should be system to get rid of
this kind of request.

Looks like you've been reading some very old posts, because
what you quoted has long since been superseded by newer
solutions. It is always best to check the latest responses first.

To solve the 'message stuck in outbox' problem, use this Microsoft fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090

by downloading a hot fix this will take care of your problem. Go to google
and type in download hotfix KB941090 or in windows update. This will take
care of your being able to delete your deleted box also. Have a Great day

i hav a similar problem how hav u sorted it out

You might want to try the newer fix for this: Download and install
this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version of the hotfix first.
Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, tend to cause this and other problems in
Windows Mail, so if you have such a program, remember where to
find the hotfix and hope it will install again if you need it again.
A recent version of the Trend antivirus program also causes assorted
problems in Windows Mail.

This is blocking all messages, both new and reply messages and is therefore
urgent that I fix this. the error message is " an unknown error has
occurred".

Hi Steve,

I've not written to you before but have been having a nightmare with Vista
email and found below what you had written. My problem is similar in that I
cannot delete emails from the Junk Folder, so I went into Explorer and copied
the '%USER.......' but didn't type Outbox as mine was Junk and sure enough I
got up the list of folders in my email. I went into the Junk Folder and the
offending items were there and I therefore deleted them manually. I then
went into the Deleted Folder and deleted them once more, as I reckoned that
if they couldn't be removed from Junk in the normal way, the same would
happen in Delete.

However, when I went back into Mail, the e-mails were still there - any ideas?

I have to admit that I didn't run the cmd prompt as I was scared I really
messed things up, especially as the previous person has written back to say
that both new and reply messages are being blocked and that's the last thing
I need right now.

I'd be really grateful for any help you can give me, this is driving me
insane!! I've hunted through MS Vista help pages but could find absolutely
nothing and I surely can't be one of two people having this problem?!

I've just spent the last six months in hospital, so if I seem a bit slow,
please be patient, it's taking me a bit of time to reaclimitise to the real
world!!

Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help!!

The Windows Mail that comes with Vista is the usual method. Are you
having trouble starting it?

If you want to connect Windows Mail to a yahoo.com account, you have
to either pay extra or install YPOPs:
