WindowsXP / IE Email Crashing Issue, Please Help, Thanks!!

We are using WindowsXP and IE. Our ISP is Optonline. We were having an issue
where we are able to open, read, delete, file all mail but as soon as we
wanted to either reply to an email and/or creat a new email from scratch we
got a pop-up msg that stated that "IE Experienced a problem and must shut
down" and then our entire internet crashed & shut-down.

We contacted Optonline who said it is a definite issue w/Microsoft and/or
IE. We contacted Dell who said that we need to completely remove IE from the
add/remove programs and install a "Clean Copy" of IE??? I went to add/remove
programs and do not see IE and was told to click on componets and click on
IE, Next, and continue to remove.

I don't wanna make a bad situation worse. I just wanna be able to use IE,
have proper use of my email, get back to IE and all of my favorite places,
etc... etc...

Can someone/Anyone please point me in the right direction of how to remove
the old IE and how do I then install a new CLEAN COPY of IE and has anyone
had this email issue w/IE-Microsoft as well???

We have scanned for spyware, adware, we have removed all pop-up
blockers including the google toolbar, help, please please please help,
thanks!!

Optonline is not an ISP; it's what's known as a web portal -- nothing
more than a convenient place to start your browsing. How do you
actually connect to the Internet? With whom did you contract to provide
your connection? Was it a local telephone company or cable television
provider? That firm would be your real Internet Service Provider.

Internet Explorer is a web browser, and *not* an email client. You're
using Internet Explorer to access a web-based email site, similar to
Google's G-Mail, Yahoo Mail, HotMail, or MSN. This being the case,
consult the technical support of whatever web-based mail service you're
using. (Or consider switching to a real email server - preferably the
one provided by your ISP - that allows access to true email client
software, such as Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, etc.)

We contacted Optonline who said it is a definite issue w/Microsoft and/or
IE.

If that were so, then they should also be able to exactly what that
issue is, and how to resolve it. Insist, politely but firmly, to speak
with a supervisor, or another, more knowledgeable person who could
provide you with something more technically useful than finger-pointing.

We contacted Dell who said that we need to completely remove IE from the
add/remove programs and install a "Clean Copy" of IE???

This makes no sense, really, because Internet Explorer is an integral
part of the operating system, and simply *cannot* be removed. If a Dell
technician actually told you that, you need to ask to speak to his
supervisor.

I went to add/remove
programs and do not see IE and was told to click on componets and click on
IE, Next, and continue to remove.

The only thing that the Internet Explorer entry in the Add/Remove
Programs applet will accomplish is to remove the IE shortcuts from the
desktop, Start Menu, and Quick Launch toolbar. The application itself
will remain completely unaffected.

Can someone/Anyone please point me in the right direction of how to remove
the old IE and how do I then install a new CLEAN COPY of IE and has anyone

There is no "right direction" to accomplish the impossible, I'm afraid.
What you might try to do, however, is try to repair Internet Explorer:
