We are using WindowsXP and IE. Our ISP is Optonline. We were having an issue
where we are able to open, read, delete, file all mail but as soon as we
wanted to either reply to an email and/or creat a new email from scratch we
got a pop-up msg that stated that "IE Experienced a problem and must shut
down" and then our entire internet crashed & shut-down. We contacted
Optonline who said it is a definite issue w/Microsoft and/or IE. We contacted
Dell who said that we need to completely remove IE from the add/remove
programs and install a "Clean Copy" of IE??? I went to add/remove programs
and do not see IE and was told to click on componets and click on IE, Next,
and continue to remove. I don't wanna make a bad situation worse. I just
wanna be able to use IE, have proper use of my email, get back to IE and all
of my favorite places, etc... etc... Can someone/Anyone please point me in
the right direction of how to remove the old IE and how do I then install a
new CLEAN COPY of IE and has anyone had this email issue w/IE-Microsoft as
well??? We have scanned for spyware, adware, we have removed all pop-up
blockers including the google toolbar, help, please please please help,
thanks!!

WOW Uncle Grumpy, Thanks for nothing!!!

What is your problem???

I was told/informed/asked by other to be as detailed as possible
since these things can spiral out of control if you don't mention
all details and/or don't know what your doing, thats what I did.

A very wise woman(My Mother) once said that if you don't have
anything nice to say then don't say anything at all!!

You may wanna learn from that advice, lol lol lol lol lol

Anyway, thanks for nothing but being rude and making a bad situation
just that much worse, take care, be well, get some sleep grumpy.

LOL LOL LOL, I see why they call U uncle Grumpy!!!

Bob,
If you absolutely, positvely want to remove IE, you can remove it using
these steps. Keep in mind that if you don't have another browser installed
(like Mozilla's Firefox, or Apple's Safari), you won't have internet access
until after you install Explorer again from your Windows CD. First, you might
want to download Firefox from Mozilla and try using it once to check your
email. Maybe it isn't YOUR computer- maybe it's THEM...

To remove Explorer, go here:
Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Once the box is done
filling in, move the mouse over the the left edge and click on the box that
says "Add/Remove Windows Components". Uncheck all of the boxes except
Internet Explorer and click "OK". Follow the instructions on screen and it
will be gone.

Be sure and to go to the Windows Update site to get the Explorer updates
after you install it again. There have been quite a few updates, and this
will probably take a while on a dialup connection. Keep repeating the Windows
update until it says there are no more updates available.

Good Luck,
Mack (Not quite as grouchy as Grouch...)

Mack, that doesn't remove IE, just the shortcuts for it. You cannot
remove IE from XP, only repair it by reinstalling, and someone else in
another thread gave him the link on how to do this.
