When my laptop is turned on or re-started, windows XP firewall is not
automatically ON. I have to manually turn it on. How can I get it to
automatically be ON when the laptop is turned on or re-started?
thanks,

Start > Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools > Services > Windows
Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

Check to see if the 'Startup Type' for 'Windows Firewall/Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS)' is set to 'Manual'. If so, change it to
'Automatic'.

Perhaps you have a third party security app, eg Norton/McAfee which is
turning it off?

You may be right. I have Norton Internet Security Center (anti-virus) but did
not subscribe to the Norton Firewall. If Norton is the problem, do you know
how I get it to stop messing with the XP Firewall?
Thanks so much for your reply.
