Windows XP Fax Program

Guest

I added the Windows XP fax program, but am having a hard time trying to send
a fax with an attachment.

I have a cable Internet setup, so am always connected. When I set up the fax
program, how do I designate this?

How do I include an attachment along with the fax. I have tried sending the
fax but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for any help!

You CANNOT Fax using Cable or DSL. You MUST be on a dial-up (56K modem)
phone line to Fax. The only way to Fax using Cable is to use a 3rd party
fax facility such as eFax.com. If you still have the internal modem, and have
your phone lines connected to an ISP, you can try it that way. Fax must be
able to dial the phone number and Cable or DSL can't do that because they
are high-speed.

XP Fax has no native ability to send attachments; integrating XP Fax with
Microsoft Outlook provides limited attachment ability. Alternatively, you
can open the file to be attached with the application that created it (E.G.
open a Word document with Word) and then print it to the Fax printer.

Yes, it is definately possible to send a fax while using a cabl
connection, I have done it.

As for your attachment, how did you apply it? you need to search al
options and you will find a way. I suggest going to the insert tab an
look at all those options.

Good Luck

You did? How did the Cable dial the phone number without a dial tone?
Like I stated in an earlier post, you can using eFax.com. If you have
somehow performed magic, please post a response on how this was accomplished
for
the benefit of the many readers of these NewsGroups.

A normal fax has nothing to do with the internet. If you have dial up
internet access you can not send a fax and be on the internet at the
same time. They use the same modem and phone line. When you connect to
the internet you dial your isp. When you send a fax you dial the
recipient. Some cable modems use the phone line for uploads.

Disclaimer: The above is my opinion. I do not guarantee it. Be sure to
back up any files involved and use at your own risk. Batteries not
included. Not for internal use. Don't run with knives.

It is also possible to send---and receive---faxes with wireless (not dialup,
cable, nor DSL) internet connection without a 3rd party fax program. I have
an HP Photosmart 2710 All-In-One and I regularly use the fax capability. It
does have a phone line connected, so obviously it DOES use Alexander Graham
Bell's invention. The printer installation CD is quite clear and detailed
as to how the fax part is set up, and I can send and receive while connected
to the internet.
Methinks the MVP's are not telling us non-MVP's the whole story.
Let the flames begin!!

You really don't understand, do you? Did anyone ever say you could not send
a fax while connected to the Internet? Of course not. We said you must use a
phone line to send a fax, which of course is what you are doing.

I would have expected that an MVP respond in a more civil and less
condescending manner. Reading back over the relevant posts, to me it seemed
that the tone was that one could not send faxes while connected to the
internet (except Dennis' post). In retrospect, I probably should not have
posted. But, I didn't realize that a support newsgroup was for posts that
chastised one for "not really understanding".

Now let's see here.
Just who was it that said, "Methinks the MVP's are not telling us non-MVP's

You got far less than you gave, chum. Think before you post. This is Usenet,
not PSS. You were treated more than graciously than you treated me.
