Windows Mail--importing from OE6

I haven't seen this problem on the message board. I recently helped a friend
transfer her dbx files from OE6 to Windows Mail on a new computer. The
transfer seemed to be going smoothly until the very end when an alert
appeared briefly saying an error occurred, but did not offer further
explanation. When the Import Wizard completed the final step, the Inbox in
Windows Mail had a new folder in it labeled Imported. However, that folder
was empty. None of the folders we selected appeared.

Just note: (1) none of the folders were Read-Only, (2) the dbx files had
been copied to the new machine into a directory User\Documents, and (3)
folders.dbx was included with the imported files.

Help! Can anyone make a suggestion?

Maybe the following article would be worth a look.

I had read that article prior to attempting the transfer and now I've re-read
it. When the instructions say to copy ALL of the files, does that include
Junk folder, Deleted messages, and other folders that my friend does not want
to transfer to the new machine or does it mean to copy just the ones she
wants but to be sure to include the folder.dbx file?

I would copy them all over, and import.
Then delete the ones you don't want in WM.

Thanks, Dave. Before I drive all the way back to my friend's house to try
this, does anyone else have a suggestion? Also, I forgot to mention that
although the files were NOT Read Only, Archive was checked. Would this have
caused the problem?

I would expect Archive to be checked. It won't cause a problem.

Don't forget Steve's caution about Vista sometimes duplicating part of the
path.

I was aware of the issue with path duplication and checked for that--wish it
were that simple. Could the problem be as suggested that we didn't copy all
of the folders, just folders.dbx and a handful of others?

I did check--and that's precisely the problem--none of the folders are
listed. Only the Imported folder itself appears.
