Windows cannot enable DVD burner

I recently reformatted and reinstalled windows XP home and now it cannot
enable my Hewlett Packard DVD burner for some reason. In Device manger,
there is a red "x" over the HP DVD writer. Any suggestions?

Hi,

You need to reinstall the DVD burning software, WinXP does not support that
natively as part of the operating system.

Hi Rick

I posted this question in the "general" forum as well and replied there.
I did try to install the software but when I put the Cd in, nothing happens.
I tried right clicking on the cd drive with the Cd in it and opened it. I
clicked on the "setup" icon, but still nothing. I also copied the contents
of the Cd onto my hard drive and clicked on the "setup" icon there and still
nothing happens. I have tried putting in other CD's and their setup screens
do appear.
