Installing a DVD burner -Software problem

My system is a P4 with Win xp. I removed a DVD player and associated
software. I installed a DVD burner and when I try to install the
software by inserting the DVD software in the New DVD burner I get the
following message. Autorun.exe Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or
WriteProcessMemory request was completed.

All suggestions/comments considered.

Hardware installed: 16X DVD Writer by Hammer
Software: Ulead Digital Media Center

I thought the Windows installer was for exterrnal hardware additions.

I forgot yo add earlier that my DVD burner addition was an internal
one.
