I recently reformatted and reinstalled windows XP home and now it cannot
enable my Hewlett Packard DVD burner for some reason. Any suggestions?

Hi Chris,

WinXP only supports CD burning natively, you need to reinstall whatever DVD
burning software was included with the system.

I tried that but everytime I put the CD in, nothing comes up to install the
software. I tried right clicking on the CD rom drive and opening the CD and
clicking "setup" but still nothing. I also tried copying the files of the CD
onto my hard drive and clicked setup, still nothing.

Thanks for all of your help rick but none of this has worked either....

Try to reinstall DVD driver.

Hi,

How does the drive look in Device Manager? Is it banged out with an
exclamation point?

DVD drivers are built into XP. No drivers to install, normally.
