PROBLEM INSTALLING INTERNAL DVD/CD WRITER

I am trying to install a LITEON MODELiHAP322-09 internal DVD/CD Writer and
have many issues. Neither of the OEM installed reader/writers function. I
tried to uninstall and reinstall and this message appears "Windows cannot
load the device for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing
(Code 39)". I am using Windows XP Home Edition in a Dell 4500 Dimension
computer. Can anyone please offer help or suggestions. Skip

Is the device recognized in Windows and/or in the BIOS? Do you have the
jumper pin set correctly? Is it the sole device on the ribbon cable? When
you say it doesn't function, do you mean it doesn't light up or run at all?
