Installing an internal DVD/CD writer

I have installed an Ativa internal DVD/CD writer on my e-machine. It is
recognized by my computer but it does not work at all. I have XP version of
windows. It will not work with a CD also. Any Help will be appreciated.

Try a different Ribbon Cable. Make sure the red stripe on the cable is
facing the molex (white) power connector.
