Win98 machine can't see Win2Kpro shared drive

Group:
I have a Win2k server TCP/IP network, mostly Win2k pro
work stations, but a few Win98 work stations. A while back
the shared drive on one Win2K pro machine became
unavailable to the Win98 clients. A pop up dialog box says
\\drivename is not accessible - Unknown error 2455. When
you are logged on as the domain administrator it pops up
asking for a password, but there is no password, and it
does't let you in either. The problem is just with this
one Win2K machine, and all Win98 machines can't get to the
drive. I have checked all the permissions a number of
times. Any ideas?
Thanks

Have you tried deleting and re-creating the share, perhaps with a different
name?

Yes I've tried that, and I've tried creating a whole new
share as well. I've tried creating new accounts, changing
the permissions to everyone, everything I could think of,
multiple times. (in case it didn't feel like working the
first time!!!) Nothing seems to help, by the way, multiple
other Win2K machine regularly allow these same win98
clients to browse them on the same network

* Do you have a common username and password for Win98 and
Win2k machine?
* Make sure that share name is less than 13 characters.
* Make sure that share name is not appended with the $ sign,
this makes the share anonymous.

Hope it helps.
