I've got a stand alone Win2k server (no AD) that I can access find from
Win2k or WinXP but not Win98. All PCs have the Microsoft and NetWare clients
and TCP/IP as the only protocol. The server has shares created and I'm
logging in to each client machine with the same user ID. Any ideas why the
Win98 PCs can't access the Win2k server but the Win2k and WinXP PCs can?

Thanks,

Brad

You don't say how you're trying to access the server,
and what exactly happens when you do. Pinging?
Inability to see shares? Access denied?

Sorry about that. I can ping fine from anywhere. If I go to network
neighborhood, I can see the server but get access denied when I try to
access it. I've also tried \\serverip\share and \\serverip\c$ both return
access denied. All of these work from Win2k or WinXP.

- Make sure to log on not only with the same user-id but
also with the same password. Windows 98 users have
a habit of sailing past the logon screen with some
remembered account name, believing that it is the same
as the one on the Win2000 machine. It usually isn't!
- Check your share access permissions.

Yup, same ID and password in both locations. The shares are right or I
couldn't access them from a WinXP PC.

have u tried deleting the .pwl files on the windows 98
machines first and then tried logging on?
