Win2k and Win98 file sharing

Hello,

Probably a simple question but i can't figure out:

I have an Win2k Pro box and several Win98SE boxes on the network.
Problem is that Win98 boxes can't access file shares from Win2k box -
when i go to "Network Neighborhood" in Win98 box and click on Win2k
machine, it asks to log in for "MAIN2K\IPC$"
But first, my shares aren't under any passwords, and second IPC$ is a
kind of system share for Win2k and is not supposed to be shown anyway.

All computers have the same workgroup and NetBIOS is active.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Thank you
Andrey

the users in the win98 pc must have an account setup on the
win2K using the same username and password

Win2k box -

on Win2k

second IPC$ is a

shown anyway.
So does it mean that a user on Win98 machine can't use a share of a user
who is on Win2k machine?

not unless that same win98 user has an account on the win2k
pc and of course sharing is enabled
