Win XP Pro doesnt always load

when I start my computer it boots ok until it starts
loading the operating system. After the monitor displays
the Win XP screen and fades to a black screen, the system
freezes instead of continuing and showing my desktop. I
have to use the restart button to restart the boot
process and the system will then usually load. This is an
intermittent problem but is beginning to occur more
often. Can you help?

Then boot up in safe mode, then run "msconfig". Here you can eliminate
the various programs that run when you boot the computer. Start with
items in the "Startup" section. one of these is most likely to be
cuasing you problems. It's just a matter of finding the right one
through a process of elimination. If it's not one of the Startup
programs, it could be a service, but eliminate individual services at
your own risk! For all cases, make sure you know exactly what something
does before disabling it.

Additionally, you should download a virus scanner such as AVG (it's
free) and scan all your hard drives. Then download Ad Aware 6 (it's
also free) and scan your computer for spyware.
