Crash at high load computer

A crash occurs at high computer load as a freezing screen, but not as a
BSoD. The crash begins with disappearance of text strings in some windows
and on the some labels of Task Bar. If at this time to close some windows,
then the OS is restored. If you do not do it in time, then the way out is a
hard restart only.

The load of the computer characterizes by data from the Task Monitor (or
Process Explorer). The crash usually begins when the value of Current Commit
Charge reaches about 2.5 GB, and the value of Available Physical Memory is
reduced to a value of about 1.2 GB. (The values of a small load is opposite:
Current Commit Charge is about 1.2 GB and Available Physical Memory is about
2.5 GB.) Limit Commit Charge is about 10 GB, RAM is 4096 MB.

OS is Windows XP + SP3. Antivirus programs are turned on and regularly
updated.

In the same home network, I have a second computer with similar
characteristics, in which the same load does not give crash. The second
computer only gives response to input commands a bit slower.

Can somebody comment on the situation and advise where and what to check?

Some standard stuff to try: run MemTest86 overnight; open case, clean
filters, & blow out heatsinks; try a different heavy load, such as
Prime95, which is CPU-intensive but not so memory-intensive; check
that all cables & cards are firmly seated.
