When I try to backup system or files to a CD-RW in my
drive 'E' I get the following message:'-
The backup file could not be used. "E:\Backup. bkf"
Please ensure it is a valid path and that you have
sufficient access.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong please???

Hi,

The backup utility does not support direct writing to CD media. You need to
either a) use a different media (tape or hard drive), b) backup to hard
drive, then burn the backup to CD or c) use different backup software.

The CD disk size is way to small to backup your operating
system, to do it that way you need a program that knows
how to submit the data in pieces to quite a few disks,
what you really should be doing is backing up the system
to the hard drive, it will place it into a folder from
which you can retrieve it.

In all fairness, NTBackup can span multiple media for one backup set,
just not CDR(W) media. It works just fine with floppies and tape if
it has to span.

So NTBackup DOES know how to "submit the data in pieces to quite a few
disks." It was just written long before CDR(W) tech came into play
and is not designed to use them.
