Hello!!

I have XP Home and in using the backup wizard I selcted to back up to E
drive(CD-RW)..I typed a new name Nick Meale for the backup...When I clicked
next the new box says"the backup file name could not be used...Saying that
E:\Nick Meale .bkf file name could not be used and please ensure it is a
valid path and that you have sufficient access...It will allow floppys but
who wants to backup alot of information to floppys anymore...Seems like
reverse psychology to me..What do you make of this?...Thanks...Nick Meale

I know this will seem like a ridiculous question, but are you sure you have
a CD burner, not just a play-only CD device?

Windows Backup will work with HDD's and floppies, but not CD's.. you can
save a backup to the HDD and then burn it to CD..

If you want to do a full system backup, use something like Acronis TrueImage

Windows Backup Does Not Back Up to CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R Devices
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315255

When using Windows XP's Backup, the total size of the backup file must not
exceed the formatted capacity of the CD (approximately 533MB). If you need to
backup an entire drive or a system volume exceeding 533 MB, you need
to use a third party backup and restore program designed to span the file
over multiple CDs (or backup to a DVD if your have a DVD recorder).

You'll need a third-party CD Recording program, such as Nero,
in order to record and span the backup file to multiple CDs.

Sounds like it's having problems with the name, not the drive. Try it
without the spaces.
