Backup wizard won't accept file name

All is well until I type in a file name and click the next box. I then get a
message saying 'The backup file name could not be used'. Please ensure it is
a valid path and that you have sufficient access'.
I am using a simple file name and I do have access as an administrator. I
have tried every file name option I can think of. What am I doing wrong?
Using something like Files backup 2-7-09 D:\ is selected as the
location

And what kind of drive is D?

Ntbackup will not place a backup file on CDs or DVDs. Instead, you need to
put the backup file into a directory on a hard drive. To avoid getting into
a big mess, the drive should be different from the one that contains the
operating system.
