backup wizard

I am trying to backup 'my documents' folder to my cd drive using the wizard.
When asked for a file name, I type Files backup 2-7-09

No matter how I change this file name I get the same message;
'The backup file name could not be used. Please ensure it is a valid path
and that you have sufficient access". Same message if I try A: drive.
I am logged on as administrator with no other users on this computer. What
am I doing wrong? Thanks

Try a shorter name without spaces or reserved characters. And ntbackup
will not write to optical drives.

"This issue occurs because Removable Storage Management does not recognize
CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R devices as backup pool media, even though you can add
these media types in Removable Storage Management. Ntbackup.exe therefore
does not support backup to these devices. "

Some people have good results with ntbackup, others just don't. If you
find that it's not working for you, consider that there are vastly better
alternatives available (such as Acronis TrueImage), and they might cost you
as much as $50. And they *do* write to optical drives.
