HELP !!! My wife bought me win xp home edition but i
cannot install it because i as running win 2000
professional and unfortunately I opened the box before I
noticed it wouldn't work with win 2000 . Is there any way
to trick win xp into thinking i have win 98 installed
instead of win 2000

No, take it back and purchase Windows XP Pro,
or perform a "clean install".

I would say your data to a CD or whatever and do a clean install! You
probably won't be able to take it back being that it is open. If your a home
user you don't need Windows XP PRO, the only differance is networking
options and you don't need that at home.

Your fine with the clean install!
Thanks
