Transferring data between old and new computers

Both are running XP Pro, and I've been trying to use the F&T Wizard. However
the old computer is just a box (no monitor etc) and I have put my CD in a
'safe place' (read misplaced it). I have tried to make a wizard disk, but
without the necessary monitor etc I can't go any further.
Any suggestions please

It would be easier then to just pull the hard drive and either slave it
in the new machine or put it in an external usb hard drive enclosure.
Once you get the data off, you could even keep the old hard drive for
backup and/or extra storage.

If the two computers are close to each other, you can switch the monitor
cable back and forth (as needed), or get a KVM switch and connect both
computers to the same monitor through the switch. Without seeing what's
going on with the old computer, you won't be able to use the File and
Transfer Wizard with much success.

The alternative (and one I prefer, although it takes more tech-savvy skills)
is to take the hard drive out of the old computer and put it in the new
computer (at least temporarily), then copy whatever is needed from the old
drive. To do this, you need to understand how computer hardware is
connected, and where to find all the data you need from the old hard drive.

Best Wishes,
Kurosh
