transfer of files and settings old to new pc

I have a new pc and want to transfer over files from old. I have only one
monitor and dont know whether I run the files and settings transfer wizard
from my new pc or the old one. I have a network cable for the transfer

Be aware that if you decide to use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard,
do NOT, if you use Outlook, use it to transfer Outlook Data. You will
corrupt the Outlook Mail profile.

if your talking just data (personal stuff) I would suggest a flash drive via
USB, so much simpler, the wizard is not reliable and doesn't get all the
settings.
anything else I'm sure you talking about xp to Vista? if so then don't
transfer settings same thing with windows 7.
