Terminal Server and network printers..

Guest

I have a HP Laserjet 4050 that has a JetDirect card in it. It is using
TCP/IP for printing in the remote office, the printer has a static IP. I
have installed the same driver on the Terminal server at the head office,
however it just points to LPT1 since it's just there for the driver.

The problem is when people connect that printer doesn't map. It'll mapp if
the client computer sets the printer to LPT1 but no use since it's a network
printer.

Thanks.

Are you running at least rdp client version 5.2?
Earlier rdp clients don't support redirection of network printers.

Found the problem. Seems the local Port name has to start with either LPT or
COM. So if the ip address is 10.0.0.23 for the printer, you have to make
sure the port name is LPTxxx etc. Works fine now.
