Today I made 5 different attempts at system restore, going as far back as
Jan. 29 and up until Feb. 3, when the problem started (problem affects the
loading of photo editing programs, all of which I've troubleshooted to no
avail). I am working in XP SP2 Home, and have 12% of my system dedicated to
SR. The restore process goes through all the steps, then reports
"restoration incomplete." I read the bertk.mvps.org site and got the Event
information as per the clear instructions. All five events are identical:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: SRService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 111
Date: 2/9/2006
Time: 10:26:15 AM
User: N/A
Computer: DF5W5N21
Description:
A restoration to "System Checkpoint" restore point failed. No changes have
been made to the system.
This may or may be pertinent. I've got an Event 7000 error on a daily basis,
seems to occur at bootup:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Date: 12/9/2005
Time: 9:38:16 AM
User: N/A
Computer: DF5W5N21
Description:
The ASPI32 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
Hope you can help. This is some waste of disk space. I used SR once before
in 2004 and it worked fine.
