Symantec Security Check

G

Guest

I'm trying to allow Symantec to check my system for bugs. Upon arrival to the
virus scan page, the site tells me, quote: "Unable to run Virus Detection. In
order to run Virus Detection you must be using Microsoft Internet Explorer
5.0 or higher with ActiveX and Scripting enabled."

I have ie 6.0, and my ActiveX and Scripting are enabled.

suggestions?

URL's may get chopped up and if so, will have
to be copied and pasted into the Address window
of Internet Explorer:

My suggestions:
1. Get rid of Norton (nothing but trouble) by uninstalling it -
2. Replace it with ZoneAlarm Security Suite:
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp

If you don't like that idea, my next suggestion is
that the next time you have a Norton problem,
which no doubt you will, look for an answer
at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html

I did and found this:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...ws 2000/Me/98/XP&src=sg&pcode=nav&svy=&csm=no

Upon further review of your post, I guess I did not
realize that apparently, you are trying to use Symantec's
ONLINE virus scanner, and may not have their program installed.

Sorry that I did not catch onto that before (just woke up) -

If the Symantec fix did not work, here are some other
online virus scanners that you can try:

Panda ActiveScan
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

TrendMicro Housecall Anti Virus Scan
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

McAfee Security - FreeScan
http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/mfs/default.asp

Computer Associates

BitDefender:
