ActiveX Is Not Enabled In Your Browser

M

Mark Hatfield

I am getting the following message when I visit [maps.google.com]:

ActiveX is not enabled in your browser. If your browser is Internet
Explorer, you must have ActiveX enabled to use Google Maps.

I have set [maps.google.com] as a trusted site and all of the security
settings are set to allow ActiveX controls. I am using Windows 2000
Professional and Internet Explorer 6. I am also using McAfee Virus Scan
Enterprise 7.1.0, have scanned everything and have no viruses.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Ken,

1. Your suggestions do not fix the problem.

2. Many of your instructions do not make any sense. For example, you write
"Disable the following items: Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls".
This is no option for "Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls".

3, Many of your suggestions do not make any sense. For example, you write
"Enable the following items: Download unsigned ActiveX controls". Why would
anyone want to enable that?

Mark

There appears to be an error in "Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 Service
Pack 4 (KB891861)" which sets the file size of msxml3.dll to 0 KB. This has
something to do with the XML parser. Once I download and installed
msxml3.msi everything worked fine.
