Strange Startup Problem

A

I have a very strange problem with my computer. When I start my computer, it
boots fine until the Welcome Screen. Then, at the Welcome Screen, it will
automatically reset itself if I do not log in fast enough. I have about a
minute from the time the screen appears to the time the login sound plays. If
the login sound does not play after a minute, it resets itself. If the login
sound does play, then the computer works fine. I also tried this in safe
mode, but in safe mode it does the same thing, only I have only about 10
seconds, which is not enough time for me to click on the appropriate user
account. Because of the pattern it follows, I have ruled out hardware issues.
I have also scanned my system several times from outside of Windows and have
found nothing. Sometimes when this happens, the event log becomes corrupt,
but when it does work, it logs the following errors:

Service Control Manager Error None 7000 N/A LAGESSE-1073BCF The RAM Driver
service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Service Control Manager Error None 7000 N/A LAGESSE-1073BCF The Extra Driver
service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

I do not know what these messages mean and I am getting very frustrated.
Also, I have tried reinstalling Windows using the Repair option, but that has
not worked. The only option I can think of that I have left is to do a
complete reformat/reinstall, but I do not want to do that becuase it is a
lengthy process. Please help, I am getting very frustrated. The following is
my complete event log:

I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. My computer is an HP
Vectra VLi8 with a Pentium III processor and 512 MB of RAM. I also have
threads at the following locations:

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The RAM Driver Service.

This link explains one use:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_CD

However, that link does not explain it's presence on your system or
those of
others complaining of the same problem.

It is obvious that a number of companies are involved in the technology
including Easy Creator, Nero and Panasonic. Also some Linux products
seem to
use the technology. This McAfee Site Advisor link is interesting as it
highlights the location of the Panasonic Start Up entries:
http://siteadvisor.pl/sites/panasonic.com/downloads/7972489

Service Control Manager Error None 7000 N/A LAGESSE-1073BCF The RAM
Driver service failed to start due to the following error: The system
cannot find the file specified.

Service Control Manager Error None 7000 N/A LAGESSE-1073BCF The Extra
Driver service failed to start due to the following error: The system
cannot find the file specified.

These error errors suggest you may have removed software and left the
sart up items behind. Is the what you have done?

Yes, the problem began righ after I installed the software found here:
http://www.extradrivecreator.com/details/

I removed it, but the problem still occurred. I found that software by doing
a Google search, and I probably should have used better judgement in deciding
wheather or not to install it. Anyway, I uninstalled it and used CCleaner to
remove registry entries that appeared to be related to it. The more I think
about it, the more I believe that that software caused the problem, but I do
not know how to fix it if uninstalling the program didn't work. Do you have
any suggestions? I would really like to avoid a reformat/reinstall.

However, after uninstalling it, the problem continued. I also used CCleaner
to remove registry entries that appeared to be related to the program, but
that also did not fix the problem. Do you have any suggestions as to how I
should clean thoes startup items out of my system. I could not find them in
the Windows Configuration Utility.

Use Autoruns to remove the orphaned start-up entries

To identify what loads when you boot use Autoruns (freeware from
Microsoft).
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from
starting,or you can right click an item and then delete it. If you
uncheck youcan recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer
approach than editing the Registry and better than using msconfig..
Another useful feature of the programme is that you can right click an
item and select Search Online to get information about the item
selected.

Please let me me know how you get on,

Hey, thanks Gerry, autoruns solved my problem. The offending drivers were
easy to locate and disabling them has allowed my computer to function
properly again. For a while there, I thought I was stuck reformatting my hard
drive and reinstalling Windows, you save me a lot of time.

Thanks!!!
