I've installed SP2 on 112 PC's. 2 systems would not boot or
required a Image restore to return to service.
2/112*100=1.79% of total, rounded to 2% ( Yields 98% success
rate)

All that proves is that Microsoft made a devastatingly terrible SP2 since 2
had issues! 8)

Then perhaps you need to be reminded of a post you made not to long
ago:
In it you stated:
"Try Google over 90,000 hits on XP SP2 failure",the post contained
nothing else.
The raw data achieved in that search is all but worthless.

I read the thread, perhaps you should again.
Your name calling again shows your only strengths.
To bad you are unable to support your point without name calling.

I don't know what the % is.
However your throwing around a % without a source is meaningless.
It is really just your opinion unless you can cite a source..

For some not having the updates is "broke".
Just because you do not currently have symptoms or are not aware of
any is not necessarily an indicator all is OK.

Many have "broke" computers and do not know it, does that mean their
computer "aint broke"?

I am not going by anything I was simply challenging one
person who quoted a 98% success rate overall to prove it.

At least he posted his results with 112 PCs. Maybe not
perfect but, a few minutes later you posted:
Please stop misleading people the actual failure rate
is much higher.

But you haven't proven that either. So far you've
provided far less data.

Your ignorance and arrogance is only exceeded by your conceit. All
references to you are warranted plus you are rarely quoted by any other
MVP's I wonder why?

I have heard many pros and cons about SP 2.
I think you will find that some critical updates require SP2 to be installed.

Kind regards

Wab

Those would be the updates we who don't use SP2 would pass on
installing, then, wouldn't they? :-)

Whatever OS will best suit the users needs is best.
For many at this time Linux is not an option since it is not as
versatile or easy as Windows XP.
Perhaps the time will come, but not today for many.

Suggest you "verify" how many copies of SP2 have been downloaded. Also how
many single downloads have been used on multiple computers. Then suggest you
divide those 90,000 people having problems by the number of downloads. Find
out the REAL percentage of problems.

Suggest YOU not post inaccurate/incomplete information!

well Bobby, if your numbers are correct (which I seriously doubt) and 90% of
XP users don't ever look at critical updates and as a result have never
even heard about SP2, despite all the news about it, then it follows that a
full 90% of Windows XP users will soon find themselves with no support from
MS.

Unfortunately, thus far NOBODY seems to showing what the real statistics
are, despite repeated requests.

But perhaps an analogy might support his claim of the low number of people
who have done critical updates. Years ago there was a fix for the bug in
IFRAME handling in Internet Explorer, we are talking IE 5 vintage here.
Lots of people apparently didn't ever go get that fix and this made it
possible for the Swen virus to flood the planet for the last year. Just
since I started logging Swen virus mail I've received 54962 and still get
new ones every day, even though I have built a set of tools to beg the
internet providers to track down their infected customer.

I would DEARLY love to see the real statistics on the SP2 failures.

So do your own research you lazy b***d.

I did and it said you were full of bs. I just wanted to
see if you would verify that. Thank you for complying.

I seem to be having a bad day today. Thanks for being so gentle :)

I suppose to support your opinion one could say that a person may have
high blood pressure and not know it and that could be fatal eh? ie
unless diagnosed and fixed with either lifestyle change or pills or
both.

On the other hand tho, a PC is not your body, and since the OP said:

"For whatever it's worth, my computer runs fine"

Would indicate following the golden rule of servicing PCs. ie dont fix
what aint broke.

I doubt that either of you have. If anyine can point to a valid source the
proves anything I have said is wrong I will offer my sincere apologies.
