XP SP 2 and cd rom problems

Since downloading SP 2, I have had problems with my d drive (cd rom). I'm
logged in as the administrator, but when I try to save an Excel or Word doc
to the d drive, it tells me I do not have access to the d drive and to
contact the administrator....which is me and how I am logged in. Also, I
have cds with home files on them that my computer no longer picks up. I
checked the cd driver and that is running fine. I put a third party disc in,
my computer read that and opened it, so the issue seems to be limited to my
personal documents. Things were fine before SP 2, but I needed Media Plyr 11
and apparently that requires SP 2. Otherwise I would just remove SP 2. Any
ideas?

Thank you

You were able to 'write' to your CD drive like a floppy diskette before?
(Based off, "... my d drive (cdrom) ... " and "... but when I try to save
an Excel or Word doc to the d drive ...")

Windows XP does not natively have the facilities to do this. If you were
able to utilize such functions, that ability came from a third party
program. (Nero, Roxio, etc.) You should check said program and install
anew if necessary - along with any patches you might need from the
manufacturer's of said application.
