ISS 5.1 and Windows XP Sp 3

hello, my system is a Dell Dimension 4700C originally installed with XP Sp 2.
I tinker with php mysql and therefore rely on ISS which comes with the OS.
Recently, I managed to upgrade to Sp 3. A couple of things seemed funny for
one, the iss help files located in the windows folder no longer worked. I
clicked on the html files and and got various http errors. I decided to go to
the snap in box and try to delete or uninstall and then reinstall the
documentation only. I was then prompted for the XP reinstallation cd. I then
realized that the cd was to reinstall sp 2. I had now upgraded to sp 3. I
tried anyway and it worked. But I am wondering if there are any implications
to using IIS 5.1 on xp sp3.
Thanks for your input.

I'm guessing IIS files were not automatically updated? Perhaps
uninstall IIS and re-install via Add/Remove Components.

yes, I considered just reinstalling but as I said before, I now have service
pack 3 and the reinstall cd is only for service pack 2.

Well, you might not have to re-install XP. You ought to be able to use
add/remove Components to do it. You could create an XP SP3 CD using
nLite. It's free and brainless.

not familiar w/nlite. Can download xp3 to .iso from a microsoft site. IIS is
not installed from add/remove. Rather it is a 'snap in' located in MMC.

hmmm, brave new world...

Nope, no ISO. You can use nlite to make you OWN .iso. All you need is
at least an XP CD, preferably SP2 CD, and the full SP3. The rest you
can probably figure out on your own.
