XP-3

I just reloaded my son's Presario 700 to it's original XP load. Can I use the
SP-3 CD to update it or do I have to load the SP-2 CD first?

Just go for the SP3 CD and install it!

SP3 is cumulative, so you can install SP3 on top of Windows XP SP1 or SP2

You can run the SP3 update package on any edition of Windows XP SP1 or SP2.
For example, you can run the SP3 update package on a computer running the
Windows XP Media Center Edition with SP1. The exceptions are Embedded
editions for XP

Thanks Bob, It does not say SP-1 or SP-1a so I will go your way. My Dell came
with SP-1a so I thought I would ask. It just says XP 2002.

Hi Jim,

While Windows XP Service Pack 3 is cumulative as was stated, Microsoft
..NET Framework 3.0 will not install, if Service Pack 3 is installed. I would
install Service Pack 2 and install all the updates or hotfixes and all the
Framework versions, before upgrading to Service Pack 3.

This warning is from experience and experimentation. Install Windows XP
Service Pack 3 last. Also note, under Windows XP Service Pack 3, Explore
crashes when you close Explore after moving files or deleting files. If you
don't move or delete, no problem.

For the .Net Framework 3.0, it is true that it will not show up in
Windows Update once SP3 is installed. However, you can always install
the redistributable version:
