Sound Problems

This question is for my father. Here's his problem. Says he gets no sound out
of his speakers associated with os operation. His media player works OK
(music, video, etc...), but all the sounds and noises associated with general
Windows XP usage no longer work. Also. when he plays Solitaire, those type
sounds don't work either. Any ideas so I can help Dad out? He has XP with
SP1. Thank you.

Some suggestions:
From the main Start menus, select and run Help And support. Search on
"system sound".

If this pc only has Service Pack 1, and not yet on Service Pack 2, make
sure you have a firewall on, and look seriously at getting Service Pack 2.
