Sound Card Not Working

Hi there

A friend of mine asked me to lok at his System, informing me that his
sound/speakers had stopped working.

I had a look at it and in DEVICE MANAGER all of the sound entries were
highlighted with an exclamation mark.

I asked him what had happened recently and he said that he had removed and
deleted a Logitech Webcam.

I consider my self reasonably technically computer "literate" but I admit
its been a few years since I worked in IT.

I have tried:-

Deleting and re-installing the SigmaTel drivers/software
Installing a seperate PCI Soundcard
Running a registry Cleaner
Run sfc /scannow
And a few other things

The last gasp scenario is to re-install WIndows

Alas all to no avail. I keep getting the Registry 19 error and feel that I
now need some Technical Help sorting out the REGISTRY with this issue. Can
someone please recommend a Technical Help Desk or Forum that can assist me
further with this matter?

Would a Windows XP Repair Help without losing any data?

Thanks in anticipation

Try here for the registry error http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

See if that fixes the sound problem- they may be interlinked.
