Scanner and Camera Wizard won't recognize camera

Plugging in USB camera does not trigger dialog box. Device Manager says my
camera and USB ports are functioning properly. Tried to start Scanner and
Camera Wizard manually but says does not detect camera. Tried uninstall
camera in Device Manager and re-install by re-starting plug and play install.
Camera was recognized on start-up and Device Manager shows camera
re-installed and properties says working properly. Go to Scanner and Camera
Wizard and still does not recognize camera. Tried update driver option on
the Device Manager properties window also. Why does Device Manager recognize
my camera as installed and working properly, but Scanner and Camera Wizard
does not? What should I try next?

I have read about an issue similar to yours in a newsletter I get, basically
it said
that some cameras require more power than the usb port (on your computer)
can provide and that if you use a (external) powered usb hub it may slove the
issue.

My camera is a Minolta xt, and it has worked for the last 6 months ever since
I bought the camera. It just stopped being detected by the Scanner and
Camera Wizard a few days ago. I even had a fully charged battery just in
case it was the power, but it was not.

Some suggest that Real player10 may cause this problem, do you have that
installed?
I wish you luck.

Dear MAP:

Thank you so much. Real Player 10 was the problem. I uninstalled RP10,
then uninstalled my camera driver through device manager, rebooted,
re-installed plug and play camera, now it works like normal.

Thanks.

Hi Map
I have a similar problem that I've been trying to sort for days and its
driving me mad. Maybe you can help me! I have an epson perfection 1250
scanner that has worked fine for a couple of years until last week. Now when
I try to use it, its says another programme may be using it or check
connections. I have uninstalled and reinstalled scanner/software to many
times to mention...no joy. I have downloaded update driver from epson, still
no good. When I look in device manager scanner is at the bottom of the list
(with my webcam) under 'unknown'. If I open scanners and cameras from control
panel, nothing is in there. If I click #add imaging device' from the top left
corner of scanner and camera window....nothing happens.
I haven't got real player installed so I don't know where to go from here.
(I have connected and installed scanner on my laptop and it works fine) but
it belongs connected to my desktop!
I would really appreciate any suggestions. I am running XP.
