Adding a usb device causes computer to restart

each time i try to use a usb device the computer restarts it does this for
printer,flashdrives,camera yet it recognizes the blue tooth adaptor.I have
uninstalled all programs going back as far as a time i knew they were
working. In system manager they show device working properly. I have
uninstalled the usb ports and reinstalled them .

Please any ideas

At this point, it could still be a software or hardware problem.

Something you can try is to temporarily install XP to another partition with
all drivers and see if the problem occurs there as well. If it does, it is
very likely a hardware problem.
