USB device

I have Windows XP. My problem is that my USB device can not function
normally anymore. I had my iPod and usb thumb drive connected into two of my
USB ports. Then after a while, things went wrong and I had a USB device not
recognized message. I tried every possible solution posted on the internet.*
I can not send files to my USB thumb drive nor play any music files I had on
it. I formatted the USB thumb drive, but the USB device is still not
functioning right. My friend had the same kind of USB thumb drive as me and
she used hers on her Windows Vista laptop and it was workable. When she used
her USB thumb drive on my computer, she could not open any files saved on her
USB thumb drive.

I later connected my printer to the USB port of my laptop and I could print
perfectly.

My laptop cannot recognize my iPod and USB thumb drive. I sometimes get a
message that says that my iPod and USB thumb drive are corrupted or needs to
be formatted.

* Turning off the laptop, deleting USB controllers, defragmenting hard
drive, formatting USB thumb drive

iPods have been previously noted to cause problem in USB. You may
need to uninstall the iPod drivers and then iTunes. Then reset the
USB controllers and test the flash drive.
