GETTING PICTURES FROM MY SCANNER

J

Jem182

When I scan a picture ...nothing happens. I opened up the Scanner and Camera
Wizard and it automatically asks for a camera source...which isn't what I
wanted. It worked the first time... but not the second. :(
I was thinking that maybe re-downloading the Scanner and Camera Wizard would
help but I haven't found a link that lets me download it.

The OP needs to have the "scanner" drivers installed before any
scanning can be done. It seems that the scanner might not be found.

Unfortunately I don't think I have any graphics program on my computer
anymore :(
Do you know where I can download a free version of a graphics program?

Do you have the scanner driver installed? If not, then you must download
the software from the maker's site.

smlunatick brings up the most important point. TWAIN and Device drivers.

Without TWAIN and Device drivers no TWAIN compliant scanning application can or will work
with the scanner.

To start, what is the make and model of the scanner and how does this scanner connect to the
PC ?

If the scanner is correctly installed, you can scan directly into
Paint or Word.

Some scanners like my Canon FS2710 which is a slide scanner require a SCSI
connection - not the easiest of program to deal with for the novice. If the SCSI
connection is not there, there is no access to the rest of the computer such as
Photoshop, paint and a lot of other programs. Yes the scanner will work but
nothing happens in the computer.

Most scanners have their scanning triggered by the request from a
software request. As with most hardware devices, the drivers need to
be installed correctly (be it USB, SCSI, Firewire or parallel.)
