Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard

Microsoft Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard will not recognize a network
scanner. If I connect the Scanner to the computer through a USB port it will
then recognize it. I am using Windows XP SP2 and XP Media Center. The
scanner is a HP Officejet 7310xi. I can access the scanner using the HP
Director but not through Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard (which is faster
if it would just recognize the scanner). The XP Media center is a laptopand
the Windows XP SP2 is a desktop. Any help would would be appreciated

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought you needed specialised software to use a
Std.scanner over a network

Perhaps, but I can use the printer and fax on any program, I can also use the
scanner if I use HP Director. I just prefer Microsoft Scanner and Camera
Wizard to scan, and it just does not recognize it.

Printer & Fax are different, and presumably you have done the network
software/driver install for the printer.
MS Scanner/Camera wizard will only detect hw connected directly to the sys.
