Remote Assistance

My first attempt helping someone with windows messenger remote assistance
gave me a "view" only of the screen of my brothers computer that I was trying
to help. I could not control anything with my mouce. We both signed onto
windows messenger, he asked me for assistence..I accepted..then I saw his
screen on my screen with the windows messenger box on the right of my
screen-his computer screen on the left of my screen. Another question
relating to permission to control and agreement..and then a message of "view
only".. What did we do wrong? I thought I would have been able to use my
mouse to control his computer.

IF permission is given by the host. Perhaps a quick look in Help and
Support, "Remote Assistance" and "Providing Help using Remote
assistance" would clear up the puzzle.
