Calendar-Reminders

UK's Kalender
(Freeware)
Windows OS: Windows (a no-install version is available)
Languages: English and German
Description: UK's Kalender" is a MS Windows program intended to remind
you of upcoming events and todos. There are several views for your
dates that are organized similar to a calendar sheet. Dates and
appointments can be entered into the calendar via an input form. You
can enter a forewarn time, so as long as "UK's Kalender" is running in
the background you'll be reminded of your dates as soon as the
forewarn time is reached. Independent from the calendar function there
is also a todo list where you can enter tasks with a deadline and a
forewarn time. If the forewarn time is reached, "UK's Kalender" will
inform you of the due tasks with symbols and colors.

Minor addition to current description:

1) Adding as a last sentence: ""Quick Notes" facility with 15 tabbed
sheets for miscellaneous plain text items"

2) Now requires VB6 runtime, not VB5 as current PL desc. claims.

Revised below.

It's Liteware. The change occurred after the program was nominated for
PL2005 - the odd description on PL2005 is a result of the timing of the
change.

I'll start a discussion thread asking about the preferred version.
Please post a revised description when that's been discussed/decided.

A download page is *usually* better - AFAIK the best link in this case
is the direct download.

Susan

Is it legal for me to put version 10.1 on my web site for downloading?

[PL] PL2006 Program Submittals -- LAME

My information *was* specific: "11 (LINK 2 DESCRIPTION) download v
3.96.1 encoders/decoders (2004-07-24) (601 KB)". Only the file name is
missing.

Hello Demetris,

Let me rephrase that. . . Think "PAD file". Program information should
be posted in the "standard Pricelessware format".

If you post "encoders/decoders" I have to go on-line and look for the
file name. I may have to jump through several hoops before I find it. . .
Sorry for that! I'll include file names from now on. Is a direct link to
the file also required? (I personally don't agree with direct links to
downloads, but that's another story.)
A significant revision of a program description should be discussed with
the group in a separate thread. When there is a consensus of opinion the
program description should be posted in this thread. It's done that way
to avoid the alternative - several competing program descriptions.
That's something that isn't mentioned on the PL procedures page. . .
yet. . .
I agree. I just submitted this as a suggestion for discussion. As I
said, I'm sure there are better ways to revise the LAME description, if
a revision is considered necessary.
Humble apologies for the unnecessary rhetoric (re problems that have
occurred in the past). . .
No worries! :)

erm. . . What about the Adware that's included? The current PL2005 description says:

"(Freeware) (free for non-commercial use) NOTE: The optional eBay search bar is Adware."

IOW - It's not black, it's just a very deep shade of gray. . . because. . . "There are NO
Adware/Spyware programs on the Pricelessware List". . .

I hedged when I revised the PL2005 description - now it's time to confront the issues head on.

Hmm I think I don't understand something here. Susan, do you update the
PL pages when new versions of a programme come out? I went to submit
Firefox but the PL 2005 page already has version 1.06, the latest as far
as I know. http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2005/PL2005INTERNET.php
Do we need to submit programmes that are already up to date on the PL
pages?

So I just discovered about 60 seconds ago. I'm on dialup and all the
updates are the only thing that puts me off Firefox. Haven't they heard
of beta testing? It would sure save me a lot of time. Whinge, whinge,
whine, whine :)

I've tried your editor and you never responded to questions. This
leaves me to "suspect" that you are taking open source programs and
inserting your info and claiming the program as your own. I don't want
to falsely accuse you of anything, but where exactly do you get your
source code?

Do we need to submit programmes that are already up to date on the PL
pages?

Let me try. From
<http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2006/2006PL-Procedures.php>

//quote
"Program Description Submittals

Program descriptions must be posted for ALL candidate programs.
Verify and update Pricelessware 2005 descriptions before posting
them. Comments and questions relating to program categories and
subcategories and issues regarding ware status should be posted
during this period..

Programs descriptions should include the information shown in the
Notes on preparing program descriptions.

<http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2006/2006PL-Procedures.php#notes>

Last minute nominations are permitted during the nominations
period. A separate thread will be used to submit program
descriptions during the nominations period. Program descriptions
must be verified before a program can be nominated.

//unquote

So Yes. If the program description and other info is up to date on the
PL pages, copy the PL link and the description, say so ("copied
current description") and add a note about no revision of current
description needed. Think of this way of doing it as a quality
assuranse process. Adding the new, verifying the old. Say if any of us
makes a mistake, like provide bad info/input and so on, others can
intervene and correct. For example if anyone by mistake (or otherwise)
inputs "bad" software (not freeware, spyware etc), wrong or misleading
descriptions, missing out on new important features that should have
been mentioned in the description, provide dead links, and so on.

Another reason for doing it this way is sharing the workload: so that
our webmaster does not have to spend weeks going over all listed
program descriptions on her own, making sure they are up to date, that
the listed download links works, version info is correct, ware status
has not changed - and so on.

All the best,
Bjorn Simonsen

IMHO until the adware is optional and you are free to *not* install it, the
program is still freeware.

If you post updates newsgroup participants will be aware of the change and I'll know the apps
description needs an update. I can't guarantee I'll be able to do version updates *just* before the
vote. I update PL program descriptions roughly every two weeks - time permitting.
