I am submitting one of my own software
01 (PROGRAM NAME) Babya Logic

Do NOT submit the same program more than once. This app is already on the list of posted descriptions.

When you post a description watch for it to be listed. If an app doesn't appear on the list within a
couple of days ask a question. If I need a second submittal I'll ask for it.

Another reason for doing it this way is sharing the workload: so that
our webmaster does not have to spend weeks going over all listed
program descriptions on her own, making sure they are up to date, that
the listed download links works, version info is correct, ware status
has not changed - and so on.

Thank you Bjorn. re that last paragraph. Last year I didn't have time to update the re-elected PL
apps until after the selection process was complete (IIRC it took me 3 weeks of steady work). That's
really too late - we need to revise the descriptions *before* we vote and I can't do that by myself.

IMHO until the adware is optional and you are free to *not* install it, the
program is still freeware.

Okay, I wasn't sure if your omission of any mention of Adware was intentional or not. I know some
newsgroup participants regard IrfanView as Adware now. I'll post a question in the ware thread for
further discussion.

[PL] PL2006 Program Submittals -- LAME
Sorry for that! I'll include file names from now on. Is a direct link to
the file also required? (I personally don't agree with direct links to
downloads, but that's another story.)

Direct links are not required (they're only used as a desperate last resort). A download page is
much preferred => access to all the available downloads/mirror sites/additional info - the link
doesn't change every time the version changes etc. etc. etc. The file name is shown for a couple of
reasons. If the author's site suddenly disappears or the app goes shareware knowing the file names
makes it easier to find alternate download sites. The file names are used to link "automagically" to
the files on the Pricelessware CD.
I agree. I just submitted this as a suggestion for discussion. As I
said, I'm sure there are better ways to revise the LAME description, if
a revision is considered necessary.

Please submit a revised program description after you have the discussion. I'll sit on the
description for now.

To prevent software authors from repeatedly spamming the group with
"submissions" - and I make no accusations in this case - perhaps three
submissions for the same program from the same person should automatically
disqualify the software? (Once is ok, Twice might be an accident - it
happens, but Three times can only be intentional).

P.S.

If newsgroup participants feel that current PL procedures require too much work an alternative
course of action is to simplify things. IOW - go back to a one page PL that shows a lot less
information.

This is what the PL looked like in the early days:

Well said Bjorn. That is what I thought too but I just felt a little
"lazy" copy and pasting stuff.

Susan I don't think it is always a case of too much work but more a case
of not knowing how to find the info. Like right now I don't know how to
find the EULA for dbPowerAMP 10.1 b/c I have v9 installed on this pc.
