Windows OS: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP; Windows Server 2003
Other OS: Linux
Languages: English
Description: Filemon monitors and displays file system activity on a system in real-time. Its
advanced capabilities make it a powerful tool for exploring the way Windows works, seeing how

or delete, happens, and its status column tells you the outcome. Filemon is so easy to use that
you'll be an expert within minutes. It begins monitoring when you start it, and its output window
can be saved to a file for off-line viewing. It has full search capability, and if you find that
you're getting information overload, simply set up one or more filters.

Up until 6 months ago I used Opera and have been using the latest
version for the last 2 days and like it a lot so here goes. I cannot see
where version 8.5 is available for OS's other than windows as clicking
on the download links for Mac and Linux takes me back to the windows
download. I also cannot find out what languages the free 8.5 supports so
if anyone can help on these, please do.

Internet
Browser: Suite

Opera 8.5
(Freeware)
Windows OS: 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
04 (OS-NOTES)
05 (OS-OTHER)
06 (LANGUAGES)

Description: Opera includes pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, integrated
searches, and advanced functions like Opera's groundbreaking E-mail
program, RSS Newsfeeds and IRC chat. Stay away from spy-ware, viruses,
and other malicious applications that silently attack your computer
while you are surfing the Web. For example, Opera displays security
information inside the address bar, located next to the padlock icon
that indicates the level of security present on a site. Opera 8 also
provides protection against phishing attacks and automatically checks
for security updates. In Opera 8, further improvements have been made in
the way the browser reads pages to allow you to fly the Web. With tabs
you can open multiple pages within the same application window. Opera
lets you control whether to block all pop-ups, or open only the ones
that you have requested. Search your favorite sites, for example Google,
eBay, or Amazon without having to go to their Web pages. Using the
'appearance' dialog you can make Opera look almost any way you want. You
can browse the Web using spoken commands, such as "Opera next link",
"Opera back", or "Opera speak". The latter command will make Opera read
Web page content and e-mail messages to you aloud ,adding usability as
either a screen reader or advanced dictionary. Voice is currently
offered in English and works on Windows 2000 and XP. A headset with a
microphone is required to use Voice.

Windows OS: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
Languages: English, French, German, Italian
Description: Yankee Clipper III (YCIII): Saves past 200 text and RTF, 20
BMP and Metafile, and 200 URL clipboard entries. Has the ability to save
and re-use "boilerplate" clippings. Simply right-click on the item and
select "Send to boilerplate". Unlimited boilerplate collections can be
created. URL aware- links copied to clipboard can be instantly launched
Has a "Load and Shoot" function to paste text anywhere Can float on top
of other applications for fast pasting No size limits for "clippings"
Prints any text clipboard entry, nicely word-wrapped This is a simple
program to understand and use Has a global hotkey to make the
application visible when hidden, and another to instantly show and
select past "clippings" without showing the application. Clippings can
be dragged and dropped to/from YCIII. Can strip unwanted "quote"
characters from "clippings". Supports ordering of boilerplate items By
popular request (They dragged me kicking and screaming...): the ability
to "chirp" when a new clipping is detected. Just rename "clip.wav.Bak"
to "clip.wav" or copy in the file of your choice and name it "clip.wav".
You can now instruct YCIII to ignore pictures (METAFILES) from
problematic apps such as MS Excel which copies metafiles of nearly
infinite width to the clipboard when you select an entire row. This
metafile isn't of much use at a later time anyway.

PL2006 Program Submittals -- Info-Rapid Search & Replace

CATEGORY: FILE UTILITIES
SUBCATEGORY: Search and Replace
AUTHOR'S EMAIL ADDRESS (munged): n/a

Added ME and XP in field 03. Please, can someone cofirm about ME? (It
works fine in 98SE, so I supposed it works in ME also.)

\beginquote

Info-Rapid Search & Replace
(Freeware) (free for non-commercial use)
Windows OS: Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
Languages: English
Description: InfoRapid Search & Replace is one of the most powerful text
retrieval programs currently available for Microsoft Windows. With its
built-in converters, it's excellently suitable for searching and
previewing HTML and RTF documents. In pure text files, the found text
passages can be replaced after the search is over. The search and
replace process can be automated with the help of batch files to replace
several phrases in one step. The found documents can be opened in a
preview window, in which the matches are highlighted. A special feature
is that InfoRapid can use Microsoft Office converters to search WinWord,
Excel, Lotus and other documents and preview them in their original
layout. The advantages of InfoRapid Search & Replace lie in the diverse
search options and in the simple operation and handiness. A click on a
hypertext link in the search result list opens the corresponding file in
the text viewer and jumps directly to the marked passage. Another click,
this time with the right mouse button, brings you back to the search
result list. You can browse through the search result list with the
function keys F5 and F6, without shifting between the file viewer and
the search result list every time. If you discover a word you want to
look further on, a double click on it is sufficient to take it as new
search expression and start a new search. Up to 999 search result pages
and search parameters can be stored in a database, from where they can
be recalled via a register.

Direct links are not required (they're only used as a desperate last
resort). A download page is much preferred => access to all the
available downloads/mirror sites/additional info - the link doesn't
change every time the version changes etc. etc. etc. The file name is
shown for a couple of reasons. If the author's site suddenly disappears
or the app goes shareware knowing the file names makes it easier to find
alternate download sites. The file names are used to link
"automagically" to the files on the Pricelessware CD.
I didn't know about the "automagical" linking! This must save a lot of work.

Thanks,
Demetris

PlanetSourceCode.com

Thanks for the answer. I don't see any violations. The code is offered
up to be voted on and to be used by others. It's not bound by the open
source convention of giving credit for what you use to whoever wrote
it.

This is quite a strange case though. You're basically offering code
that others submitted and made freely available as your own. Your text
editor did not remove the registry entries when I uninstalled it. Can
you fix this? Can you fix any bugs that people report?

And there seem to be bugs in the code, from what I've tried and from
what others have posted. Frankly, that's on a whole different level
than Pricelessware.

I understand your wishes to learn and to make your programs known. A
self-nomination for inclusion into the Pricelessware list is not the
right way to go about this though. We're on the honor system as far as
the voting goes. If you ask family and friends to vote on these
programs, or if some of the lurkers vote on it to disrupt the ideal,
the ideal goes down the toilet. I hope that you understand this and
value the group and the process enough to withdraw your nominations
until such time that your capabilities are such that you can take some
source code, debug it, make it better, and then call it your own.

At the present time, you're inserting your name in the right places. I
do not consider these to be "your programs."

Yup. All the web pages are all created "automagically" to a certain extent. I use spreadsheet
formulas to do the HTML coding, create links to other web pages and files etc. The sortable tables
are created using PHP code. Headers and footers are separate files - called by the PHP files. etc.
etc. Every little bit helps. . . ;)
